Publisher's Synopsis

In this paradigm shattering work, John Piper reveals that the debate between duty and delight doesn't truly exist: Delight is our duty. Join him as he stuns you again and again with life-impacting truths you saw in the Bible, but never dared to believe.

5***** Desiring God is Pastor/Theologian John Pipers' interpretation and application of J. Edwards. It is a completely Biblical guide to our real heart attitudes to God. You will never look at "suffering for Jesus" in the same way again. Reading DG was the beginning of a personal revival in my life and ministry. Greg Bailey Greer, SC Hospital Chaplain

Piper's best-known work, Desiring God, is a magnificent work. Essentially, Piper unpacks biblical reasoning behind his belief that "the chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever." He shows how delight in God is not only an splendid possibility, but it is in fact our duty to pursue joy in Him! Only joy in God is honoring to God, and God has designed our lives--worship, Scripture, prayer, love, money, missions, and suffering--for our joy in Him! The chapters on missions and suffering have changed my view on these areas and are leading me to embrace the radical call to discipleship --for my joy and God's glory!
