Cultivating A Mind & Heart To Delight In God
Upholding the Westminster Confession of Faith

At we love theology. However we recognize with John Piper that theology is secondary, doxology is primary. Theology supports doxology because God is to be praised… and trusted and submitted to and delighted in. The great theologian, Jonathan Edwards proclaimed that God's ultimate end is the manifestation of his glory in the highest happiness of his creatures.

Loving people (rich and poor, black and white, friend and enemy, outcast and celebrity, Republican and Democrat, old and young alike) seems to be high on God's priority list for us as well. Where am I going with this? Do you wrestle as I do to love God and love people and die to self? Why should I be surprised? It has been my experience that lukewarm longing toward God produces lukewarm love for others and each of these a real struggle.

Yes, we need the Gospel. And we need to meditate on it daily. Just as the farmer has to cultivate the hard ground every spring, our minds and hearts need to be cultivated with the truth of God's word that will fan the flame of passion for Christ. It is our desire to offer you resources that will fan that flame. It is God alone that will satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts, not the idols of our flesh and this world with which we are stubbornly preoccupied.

Our prayer is that God would set our hearts ablaze to sing the excellencies of him who has called us out of darkness into his light. And, that love for him might overflow into a richer love and compassion for each other.
